Listed below are three different plans that
our Coach's Video Assistant users have chosen over the last few
years. Which plan is best for your football program?
Plan A - Macintosh Systems Only
Plan B - Hybrid Systems
(Macintosh and PC's)
Plan C - PC Only
Plan A
(Macintosh Systems Only)
This system is comprised solely of
Macintosh computers. Some high school football programs might
use only one desktop Macintosh (iMac, eMac or G4 tower). Many
football programs will use a desktop connected to their camera
and an external Firewire drive as their main system with
several of the coaches having their own laptop (iBook or
Powerbook) computer to use at home, at school or in the
coach's office. In order to share library data between coaches
this plan requires the purchase of either inexpensive 3.5" USB
floppy drives or USB Zip drives.

Braintree Athletic Systems will offer you!)
- email support - Braintree
Athletic Systems. support@btathletics.com We are generally
able to reply to a question within twelve hours. Quite often
it is within four hours.
- Braintree Athletics will be happy to
develop an on-going email relationship with both your
program's "geek" and "analyst".
We would love talking to
your "geek" about digital and analog video. We love to talk
about compression schemes and Quicktime. We are pretty good
at using iMovie2/3 and love to share ideas about making
highlight videos and DVD's. We would also enjoy having
conversations with your "analyst". This is the coach that is
trying to figure out how to be use the Coach's Video
Assistant to win football games. We can share our ideas
about finding your opponent's tendencies, about analyzing
your own game plans and about how to use CVA in the
pre-season and during practices.
Who would choose this plan?
- Programs will choose this method if they
have had little access to computers and want to have
everyone using the same system. Typically the Apple
Macintosh line of computers require very little maintenance
and study before and during implementation.
- Programs will choose this plan if they
are limited in their knowledge about computers - and don't
want to spend a lot more time learning about drivers, cables
and config files.
- Programs will choose this plan if they
are already Apple Macintosh users and have coaches with
access to the necessary hardware.
- Programs will choose this plan if they
want each and every coach to be able to produce quality
video tape products at home, school or in the coaching
office.
Hardware
Apple Hardware Information
Benefits:
Every coach is able to create high quality
video products. Coaches who are just now learning how to use a
computer effectively will be pleased with the Macintosh
computer's ease of use.
Issues:
Most Macintosh computers that are capable
of running CVA software do not have a 3.5" disk for data
library exchange. Make sure at least one is purchased.

Plan B
(Macintosh Computers & PC-Compatible/Windows
Operating System Computers)
Hybrid system. This football
programtypically uses an Apple Macintosh computer to capture
the game video from tape and then quickly burns it to CD.
Afterwards, coaches with PC computers that run a Windows'
operating system copy the CD onto their computer and begin
entering play data. Ultimately all the data generated by the
football staff is imported back into the Macintosh computer
which is serving as a video editor. In order to share library
data between coaches this plan requires the purchase of either
inexpensive 3.5" floppy drives or Zip drives.

Who would choose this plan?
Football programs choose this plan when
they want high quality video services (Macintosh) but
already have an existing base of Window's PCs.
Hardware
Apple Hardware Information
Issues:
Braintree Athletic Systems does not
support the computer's operating system - whether it be
Apple Macintosh or Microsoft Windows. Each program must have
a dedicated individual to provide the needed support. This
person would need to be ale to:
- Macintosh: Install programs
from CD, setup a printer, burn video files to CD. This is
not hard, and the computer and peripherals all come with
excellent manuals.
- Windows: Install Coach's Video
Assistant. Copy video from CD's to the CVA program folder.
Navigate and save files to a variety of drives.
- Macintosh: Most Macintosh
computers that are capable of running CVA software do not
have a 3.5" disk for data library exchange. Make sure at
least one is purchased.
Benefits:
Football programs might be able to gain
access to some computers that may not be used on a regular
basis. Many schools have a few PC/Windows computers sitting
around receiving minimal use. A PC computer with a
relatively fast processor and an above average monitor and
video card will generally be sufficient to run Coach's Video
Assistant. Even football programs that are running all
Macintosh computers in the coach's office or home will still
take advantage of Coach's Video Assistant's cross-platform
capability by sending CDs home with players and allowing
them to install CVA on their home computer. Braintree
Athletic Systems allows and encourages football programs to
use our software to best meet their ongoing needs!

Plan C
(PC-Compatible/Windows Operating System computers
only)
Only computers running Microsoft Windows
are used. This football program typically uses a computer
running Windows XP as their video workstation. Game video is
captured on this computer and subsequently burned to CD.
Afterwards, coaches with PC computers that run a Windows'
operating system copy the CD onto their computer and begin
entering play data. Ultimately all the data generated by the
football staff is imported back into the Windows PC. In order
to share library data between coaches this plan requires the
purchase of either inexpensive 3.5" floppy drives or Zip
drives.

- Capturing video is not easy on a
computer running a Microsoft Windows operating system. It
can be done, it is just not easy and Braintree Athletic
Systems will not offer support in this area. There are too
many different kinds of hardware, software, device drivers
and video cards for our small company to support
knowledgeably.
